Larrie and the Jackfruit

One of our new food discoveries is jackfruit. We had never seen or tasted anything like it. The fruit grows near the trunk of the tree and doesn't look particularily appetizing.

Being adventurous, of course, we tried some. I can't really describe it; but, I can tell you it tastes very good stuffed with bleu cheese and consumed with chilled white wine. The fruit is mildly sweet.

One time, Larrie decided to purchase a complete fruit rather than buy, as usual, a few individual pods. Imtiaz, our driver is an old hand at extracting edible portions. Each section has a seed inside that can be boiled and salted then eaten like nuts. Imtiaz told us he takes them to the movies for a snack instead of popcorn
